Relax much?

I know every day brings stress, tension, and a lot of unhappiness to people striving in the workplace.  Deadlines to meet.  Attempting to make your boss proud.  Maintaining acceptable communication with co-workers. So, what do you do to alleviate that stress? What do you do to allow yourself to take a deep inhale and a relieving exhale?

Breathe

Is there time for you to take 5, 10, 15 minutes to become self-focused and allow a little yoga breathing to clarify your mind and soul?  Perhaps as simple as sitting straight and practicing some Ujjayi breathing can bring clarity to your busy mind.

Ujjayi is a diaphragmatic breathing first filling your lower belly or your diaphragm.  Air is slowly inhaled through the nose at a count of 10 and exhaled by a slow complete exhalation for a similar count.  Repeat 5 to 10 times.  Are you relaxed yet?

Yoga

All people experience stress and have a variety of triggers that throw them off their center.  When one doesn’t feel centered then he/she doesn’t feel in control.  Not feeling control is the primary reason of being overwhelmed. Stress affects the mind, body, and soul as yoga combines the mind, body, and soul.

Yogis from all over experience the peace that yoga teaches through breathing, self-awareness and movement.  The practice blocks the chaotic outside world and empowers one to make better lifestyle changes. So why not try it?

Stress today will not necessarily be the same stress tomorrow but in the big picture is what you are stressed about really a big deal?  Life is short. Take care of yourself.  Try not to allow stress to overtake your life.

Just Write

I have recently taken on a new editing position for a writer who declares that he is not a writer. He proclaims that his writing is grammatically poor, he lacks the ability to capture the emotion and his “grammer” is poor (this made me giggle).  So I continued to read an excerpt of his writing just to see what I would be working with and let me tell you how shocked I was after reading it.  Not only did his writing naturally flow, but he intertwined so much emotion to his readers that the writing practically made me cry.

Why am I blogging about this to you?

People need to simply realize that writing does not take a genius or even being declared a “writer” to put words on paper to share an experience with others, rather it simply takes the will to sit down and type or handwrite what is on your mind.  You have no idea how inspired this individual has made me. I always say, alright… today I am going to sit down and journal or today I am going to sit down and begin to blog. WELL today is the day and I hope I can inspire at least one other person to blog, to journal, or to simply write out his or her story.

You don’t have to have a grammatically correct piece of writing, you don’t have to know how to spell or even have to know where to put a comma… just write what’s on your mind and allow an editor to clean it up.

Every single person is a writer whether he or she knows it or not.
